*“An ebullient, charismatic performer who effortlessly holds the spotlight” (San Francisco Chronicle), Pamela Rose is equally known as a superlative jazz singer and blues belter whose Wild Women of Song: Great Gal Composers of the Jazz Era shined a much-deserved light on the contributions of women songwriters to the Great American Songbook. Her most recent project, Blues is a Woman, is a multimedia showcase for the great women of the blues that features Rose and a stellar all-woman band made up of many of the Bay Area’s best including pianist Tammy Hall and saxophonist Kristen Strom.
**While Mimi Fox has been a Bay Area resident for decades, local opportunities to catch this globetrotting guitar star are few and far between. A blazing straight-ahead fret master who combines bebop-infused technique with an abundance of soul, Fox has performed and recorded with some of the most commanding players in jazz, including saxophonists Branford Marsalis and David Sánchez, vocalists Abbey Lincoln, Diana Krall and Janis Siegel and Hammond B-3 organ masters Barbara Dennerlein and Dr. Lonnie Smith. Among fellow guitarists, Fox has collaborated with a multi-generational who’s-who, including Kenny Burrell, Charlie Byrd and Charlie Hunter.
