High Holy Day Food Drive
The High Holy Days are a time for personal reflection; they are also a time for us to share with those who are less fortunate. Every year BATY (Beth Am Temple Youth) sponsor an annual High Holy Day Food Drive for the congregation — a longstanding Beth Am tradition. Learn more.
About Fasting
Although it is customary for healthy Jewish adults (13 and over) to fast on Yom Kippur, Jewish law exempts some from the fast, and in fact requires them to eat. Exempt are: the very elderly, those who are ill, those who are pregnant or nursing and those taking medicine which must be taken with food or water.
