If you are considering converting to Judaism, Congregation Beth Am provides a supportive and welcoming place for you to explore the Jewish way of life. The first step is to set up a meeting with any one of our clergy. You will have a chance to ask any questions and learn more about what it means to become a Jew. Together, you will create a plan for your course of study.
The process of conversion is tailored to fit each person’s background, experience and interests, but typically includes individual meetings with a clergy member each month, completion of an Introduction to Judaism class such as Building Blocks of Judaism (covers the basics of Judaism and fundamental aspects of Jewish practices), and regular participation in worship, study and Jewish practice. You will get to know the Beth Am community, and will learn about Jewish history, rituals and traditions; celebrating Shabbat and the holidays; and doing mitzvot (sacred and righteous deeds).
If you are interested in exploring the process of conversion, please don’t hesitate to contact any of the clergy at Beth Am. They will be very happy to discuss your spiritual journey and help you decide if conversion is the right path for you.
