Support Israeli Druze
Dear Friends,
I am asking for your help with a campaign I am running to support Israel. I know you have seen many appeals for donations relating to Israel over the past year. This one is different, so please take a few minutes to read my note.
I started an IRS-recognized nonprofit called Fund for Israel with the goal of helping Israelis during the current crisis. Specifically, we are currently raising funds to help the Druze community in the small village of Hurfeish in Northern Israel. This is a special community that no one outside Israel is supporting.
Druze citizens in Israel are extremely loyal to Israel, serve in the IDF, and are true partners for Israel’s future. They have lost many soldiers fighting for Israel’s survival. Like everywhere else in the world, Israeli society is imperfect, and in several ways the Druze are neglected by the state of Israel and as a result are economically disadvantaged.
Living in the north, many Druze villages have felt an outsized impact from the war and have had to bear more than a year with almost no visitors to their businesses. Even though they have been living under a constant barrage of bombs from Hezbollah, they only recently began receiving funds for bomb shelters. Further, in contrast with Jews in Israel, the Druze do not have a Diaspora that raises funds for them to ensure their survival in times of need. For these reasons, Fund for Israel decided to support this community.
In collaboration with the Hurfeish village council, we are collecting donations to directly buy things for the most vulnerable people of Hurfeish, its children and the elderly. For the children, we are purchasing art supplies and activity kits so that children in preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school will be able to stay busy and creative when they need to remain indoors. For the elderly, equipment that will keep them physically active in their senior center. If we raise significant funds, we will also sponsor a new playground for children so that when they can go out, they will feel special with new things to do.
Please help us help our brethren in this minority community in Israel that desperately needs support. You can DONATE ONLINE or by sending a check to: Fund for Israel, P.O. Box 605, San Carlos, CA 94070.
For more information please email fundforisrael.org@gmail.com. All donations to Fund for Israel are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law and 100% of your donation goes directly to helping Hurfeish. Fund for Israel is recognized as a 501(c)(3) charity.
Thank you,
Leeron Morad
