“I love death more than you love life,” he shouted over and over again.
Our screening of Colleyville will take place almost two years to the day after the real-life hostage taking in that small Texas town near the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. One Shabbat morning in January 2022, Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker invited a man in from the cold and offered him a cup of hot tea. What followed were 11 hours during which the rabbi and three congregants knew not if they would live or die.
Israeli director Dani Menkin (On the Map) features powerful never-before-seen security footage from Congregation Beth Israel, giving the viewer unprecedented details of this gripping, real-life drama that captivated the White House, the Prime Minister of Israel and the world at large.
If you would like to receive a reminder prior to each of our films, please email Lauren to be added to the list.
The Shabbat Jewish Film Series is made possible by the Aptekar Family Fund for Film.
